What the test is about

The Life in the UK Test is set by the Home Office and covers the full official syllabus for anyone applying for British citizenship or indefinite leave to remain. It tests your knowledge across six broad areas:

• The values and laws of the UK
• The countries that make up the UK
• Key events and figures in British history
• Daily life and culture in the UK
• How the UK is governed
• Integration into the British community

The format

The test has 24 questions and a time limit of 45 minutes. You need to answer at least 18 correctly to pass — that is a pass mark of 75%. The questions are written at ESOL Entry Level 3, so the English is clear and straightforward.
